Number the Stars - Chapter 9


Please write a summary of chapter 9.

  1. In this chapter, Annemarie accuses Henrik of lying to her. He confirms this, and explains his reasons. Annemarie realizes the truth in his words, and for these reasons does not tell Ellen there is no Great-Aunt Bertie.

  2. Annemarie's finds Hendrick milking Blossom and says I know that you are lying. I know their is no Great Aunt Birte.

  3. Annmarie goes to the barn and and accuses Hendr rick of lying to her. He confess and they bring the coffin inside. They have guests who dont talk to them during the funerl.

  4. Annemarie makes Uncle Henrik confess that there is no great-Aunt Bertie.
    She is mad at Uncle Henrik about lying but understands the reason. They all gather around Great-Aunt Berties and pray. Then Ellen's parents come with Peter behind them and take Ellen outside to talk.

  5. Annemarie goes to the barn and finds her uncle. Annemarie tells Hendrick that he is lying. After she talk's to him she realizes that she can't tell her best friend, Ellen.

  6. Annemarie gives Uncle Hendrik a visit at the barn and tells him that she knows that there is no Great Aunt Birte. The casket comes in their house and people come and look at the casket and she doesn't feel sorry because she knows Great Aunt Birte isn't alive and never was. Peter comes with a suprise guest Ellen's parents and she wants to know what's going on!

  7. Annemarie is at the barn with her uncle. The casket comes and Uncle Hendrick goes back to the house. A lot of people come and they don't talk like when Lise died.

  8. She finds Uncle Henrick in the barn milking Blossom and figures out that he's lying. the coffin arrives and soon later so do Peter, and Ellens parents.

  9. Annemarie is at the barn with Uncle Henrik.When they are done talking AnneMarie is mad because she knows he and her mom are lying. A lot of people come and cry for the person who is in the casket.

  10. In this chapter Annemarie talks to Uncle Henrik about Great-aunt Bertie. When the coffin arrives Annemarie wants to tell Ellen that Bertie doesn't exciste but she doesn't.

  11. Annmarie and Uncle Henrik are in the barn talking and Annmarie asks if he and his mom were lying. When they go back into the house people start coming in and sitting around the casket. Later Ellen is talking to mama and is saying she is sorry. Annmarie decides to keep her mouth shut and not say anything about Great Aunt Birte.

  12. Annemarie and Uncle Henrick were in the barn and Annemarie told Uncle Henrick that she knew that he and Mama were lying to her. Then Uncle H saw the hearse drive in. Later people came to the funeral at the house and when Uncle H was "leaving" to go fishing Ellen's parents and Peter walked in.

  13. Annemarie and her Uncle Hendrick are in the barn talking. Annemarie figures out their is no such thing as Great Aunt Birte. Once the casket comes people start gathering around it while Annemarie tries to figure out who Aunt Birte is.

  14. Annemarie is angry that her uncle and mother are not telling her the truth. She confronts Uncle Henrick about this and he tells her that it is easier to be brave if you do not know everything. "Aunt Birte" arrives and Annemarie is more confused than ever. Ellen is called outside with Henrick and returns with her parents.

    Annemarie knows that that there is no Aunt Birte and that they are lying to her. She finds Uncle Handrick in the barn and proves that he is lying. When the coffen arives she pretends not to know that Aunt Birtie is not real, because she thinks she is protecting Ellen. Ellen is suprised by meeting her parents at the funarel. Is Annemarie going to have to show bravery for her best friends sake?

  17. Annemarie learns she's being lied to. Dead Aunt Birtie's coffin comes. The people don't talk for some weird reason.

  18. Annamarie knows that Mama and Uncle Hendrick are lying to her about Great Aunt Bertie but for Ellen's safety she does not tell her. At the "Funeral" Ellen's parents,Peter, and other people show up. Why are they here even though there is no Great Aunt Bertie.

  19. Annmarie told Uncle Henrick that he lied and he tells her that she is right. When the coffin comes Annmarie wants to tell Ellen that there isn't any Aunt Birtie but, she says nothing.

  20. Annmarie goes out side and asked "why are you lying"? Uncle Henrick tells her the reason. They both go in side for "Great Ant Britie's" funeral. A lot of people come to the house and all of sudden Ellen's parents walk in.

  21. In chapter 9, Annemarie asks Henrik about "Great-Aunt Birte." He reveals to her they made the fake aunt up so that it is easier to be brave. They throw a fake funeral and then Henrik takes Ellen outside. Ellen's parents are back.
